1. What are the benefits of moving online?

2. What if I don't know what size truck to book?

Common question this one.

Most folks have a fair idea of what they need, but if you are not sure, either ring us for a quick chat or chat online.

One rule of thumb that works well is this.

If you are not sure between a small and medium truck, go medium or medium & large truck, go large, etc.

Simple guide :

1 bedroom/studio apartment - Small truck
2 bedroom apartment/house - Medium truck
3 Bedroom apartment/house - Large truck
4 bedroom house - 2 x medium trucks & 4 removalists
5 bedroom house or bigger 2 x medium trucks & 4 or 5 men

3. Are your removalists experienced?

Yes, our crews are very experienced.

Errol has 37yrs in the industry, Joe 32 yrs, Tony N has 30 yrs, Tony S has 26yrs.

Damien & Michael each have 15yrs, Ben 8yrs and the younger crew members vary between 2 to 6 yrs.

The senior guys spend hours each week teaching and training the younger guys every aspect of the removal industry, from strapping piano's to moving pool tables, to packing china and loading trucks.

The older guys are old school. They adhere to the DINDIP philosophy. Do it now, Do it properly.

 

4. Can we request certain removalists for our move?

Yes you can.

Under 'Special instructions' on the booking form, just add the names of the crew you require.

NB: You need to book early for the larger trucks & crews as these removalists are in great demand.

 

5. Which is better, fixed price or a hourly rate?

For local moves,we say hourly rate is the best , most cost effective way to move furniture.

For one thing there are no arguments about extra furniture or bad access or stairs or steep driveways.

With a fixed price quote you need to allow for the maximum time possible when supplying a price.

That can be a very expensive way to move.

When you pay by the hour, you only pay us for as long as you need us.

You only pay for our trucks for the time you use them.

You effectively control the cost of your move.

The number one source of all disputes in this industry is over 'fixed price' quotes.

If you do go with a fixed price quote,make sure you get a copy of the inventory.

Check and double check to make sure every single item is listed.

Make sure that the moving company checks access at uplift and delivery.

Make sure that they have included extras like dismantling/reassembling furniture and effects.

Make sure every single aspect of the move is documented and you have a signed copy.

That way you are at least protected if it turns into a dispute at the end.

6. Are we insured?

Simple answer, Yes.

But with all insurance, some items are not covered.

7. How long does the average move take?

This is a tough question as every job is different.

It depends on so many factors.

Most folks have moved house on numerous occasions and should remember whether it took half a day or whether it dragged on painfully for the whole day.

Rule of thumb is that big houses (4 bedrooms +) take the best part of a day, small houses about half a day.

Factor in access at uplift and delivery when making an assessment.

Steep driveways,stairs and long carries can add considerable time to a move.

The secret to a fast and efficient move is to be well organized.

Have everything packed and prepared for transport and it should be a smooth move.

 

8. Do you have a minimum charge?

Yes we do.

We charge a minimum of 2 hrs, then by the 1/4 hour thereafter.

 

9. Do you charge travel time?

Yes we do charge travel time from/to the nearest depot.

 

10. Do you dismantle furniture?

Yes our men carry an extensive tool kit on all of the trucks.

We can dismantle/reassemble beds, bunks, desks, swing sets, trampolines, disconnect washing machines and take dryers off the wall.

We also offer a handyman service for complicated dismantling jobs.

 

11. Do you move piano's?

Yes as part of a move.We no longer mover piano's as a one off item.

We have the expertise and equipment to move Grand piano's, baby grand piano's , Pianola's and upright piano's.

 

12. Do you move pool tables?

Yes as part of a move.We no longer move pool tables as a one off item.

We move tables up to 8 x 4 in size.
